While the original jack o’lanterns were carved from potatoes, large beets, and turnips, immigrants found that pumpkins, native to North America, made for the perfect jack o’lanterns.

Every Friday and Saturday evening in October, they offer an outdoor movie showing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” with a Peanuts-themed corn maze. And we can’t forget the pumpkin patch, where you can pick out your own pumpkins to take home. With reasonable admission prices and great hours, this is a great place for families.

If you’re looking for a smaller local farm with a lot of heart, check out College Run Farm. This farm offers great pick-your-own produce throughout the year. In October, they open their gates for families looking for an authentic pumpkin patch experience. At their pumpkin patch, you’ll be cutting your pumpkins right off the vine. They also offer a corn maze for all ages, fresh, homemade pumpkin ice cream, and are dog-friendly too!

For the large fall farm experience, check out Holly Fork Farm. In addition to their large pumpkin patch, they also offer wagon rides into other parts of the farm. They offer pony rides, farm tours, pumpkin launching, lots of festival food, and much more! They rent their space out to do parties as well, if you have any fall birthdays. They have activities for all ages that will really get everyone into the harvest festival mood.
