We called ahead for a Wednesday night table for 2 at Food For Thought in Williamsburg, VA. Even so, we waited for about 30 minutes before we could take our seat, and the waiting area was packed full! This is a good omen, undoubtedly.
Once we took our seats, the server greeted us with a smile and informed us of the specials for the evening. Returning promptly, she brought the Red Summer Sangria we ordered topped off with fresh strawberries and blueberries, as well as a basket of fresh bread. We took turns reading the riddles and tricky legal case questions to each other that were strategically placed on the table while we waited for our appetizer to arrive. The cards were so much fun; we were probably disrupting the tables around us.
Within a few minutes, our Shrimp Boat arrived filled with fried shrimp dipped in spicy remoulade sauce placed elegantly in a potato skin boat, and topped off with tomatoes. It was phenomenal. We then got to read several more intriguing trivia cards while our main dishes were prepared in the kitchen.
Hot plates were ushered out to our table to include the Nutty Chicken, which was a parmesan cheese and pistachio encrusted chicken cutlet, topped with garlic mushroom sauce over a helping over heavenly mashed potatoes and a side of asparagus. We also ordered the Fork Tender Pot Roast with gravy that is cooked forever (hours and hours until it falls apart), with a side of mashed sweet potatoes and skinny fries.
This place was seriously satisfying, not to mention entertaining at the same time. We would highly recommend stopping by here while you’re staying in town. Check out their website and menu here: http://foodforthoughtrestaurant.com/
