One of the best ways to celebrate the upcoming harvest season is at one of the best fall events near Williamsburg VA: the Yorktown Market Days. This riverfront farmer’s market is chock-full of fall delights. It is widely considered the best farmer’s market in the area and is active each Saturday from April through December, but it really shines during the autumn season. Whether you’re looking for fresh, locally grown apples, pumpkins, gourds, or even live seafood, you’ll find it all and more at this year’s market days.
Farmers Market Featured Themes
Several upcoming Saturdays will feature a theme. Come by October 12 for the fall festival, October 19 for Yorktown Day, or October 26 for “Paws at the River” (aka pet-themed!). November will feature a maritime market on the 9th and a harvest festival on the 16th. Each theme will bring unique musical entertainment and local chef demonstrations. The best part of these themed days is that the hours of the market are extended (starting at 8 or 9am and lasting until 3 in the afternoon, rather than ending at noon) and each includes a little something extra, such as tractor rides or festive fall displays. This is also a great place to shop from local artisans and artists. Paintings, jewelry, candles, soaps, alpaca products, pottery, carved wood, and more are sure to delight the senses. Make sure to leave room for some tasty treats, as food trucks will be on hand, along with local bakers and their goodies.
Transportation to the Farmers Market
Even getting there is fun if you take the trolley. The Yorktown Trolley is free, air-conditioned, and will take you all around historic Yorktown, including this event at Riverwalk Landing. While you’re in the area, maybe stop by the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center or the American Revolution Museum of Yorktown to make a full day of it!
Be sure to book a room at our Colonial Gardens Bed & Breakfast, located just 25 minutes from the market. We’d love to see you this fall!
