What’s a bed and breakfast wedding really like? If you’re considering a bed and breakfast for your wedding venue, you are probably looking for the insider’s view of what you can expect with this type of unique venue.
We have the answers!
Our bed and breakfast has been doing weddings for over 10 years! Because of this, we’ve seen it all and can provide some much needed guidance for brides trying to make the best choice for their special day.
We’ve Listed the Top 6 Things You Need to Know About Bed and Breakfast Weddings
Here’s what you should know…
Most Bed and Breakfasts Have Limited Space
If you’re planning a wedding for more than 50 people, a bed and breakfast may not be the way to go. However, a smaller venue size can be a very good thing for brides that are planning to have a more intimate guest list. We have had countless brides that reduced the size of their original wedding plans in order to save money and cut down on family drama.
You’re Going to Pay Less
If you’ve been looking at venues recently, you know it can be expensive. In fact, according to a recent study, couples spend on average between $12,343 – $14,006 on a venue alone (and that’s before food)! Bed and breakfasts, on the other hand, often do not charge site use fees. Their packages often come with room nights and even decor, depending on the venue. For example, our largest wedding package comes with 4 room nights, floral packages, complimentary photos, and cake and champagne.
The Location is Going to Be Special
Most bed and breakfasts make their money because they have a unique or historic home situated in a picturesque location. In fact, the best bed and breakfasts will have something breathtaking, whether it’s a grand staircase, beautiful historic touches, or spectacular views and well-maintained grounds and gardens, like we do. We highly recommend checking out the bed and breakfast in person before you book (pictures often can’t do them justice).
A Delicious Breakfast Awaits You
The breakfast part of “bed and breakfast” is not to be overlooked! Innkeepers often take great pride in the meals they serve, especially to their wedding guests. Because each wedding is personally planned and executed by the innkeeper and their staff, you can expect a specially designed and unique menu for you and your guests staying with you at the inn. Let them know about any dietary restrictions or special requests when you book!
You’ll Have an Inside Source
The innkeeper has all the information you need about the area. They will know the best places to go for dinner or any attractions you may want to check out in the area. (They’ll often be able to get you the best table at those restaurants too!) Because you have a personal contact with your innkeeper, you can expect personal touches to every aspect of your wedding weekend.
Check the Reviews
As with anything, quality control is key! We recommend doing some research and finding reviews from other brides and even guests that have been to the bed and breakfast before. TripAdvisor and Wedding Wire are great resource for first-hand information on any venue. Check out how our venue ranks here below!
